Daisy Rodgers

British
She is in the course of BA Photography, LCC

Daisy became a year 3 student last month. She is living in a 1 room studio flat in Elephant & Castle. She has been living in current home for 5 months. She feels current home is a bit large and the cost is expensive to her so she wants to save living cost by room sharing. She is going to look for a female roommate who is friendly and in a similar course with her, such as photojournalism because she wants to share information and study together.
She does not like pets and she is not smoker thus she wants to notice this option to house hunters. She does not want to use estate agency because she wants to save housing fee. She has experience with using the housing website such as Gumtree, however she is not sure that she gets a new roommate who meets all her conditions, so she is looking for more effective way for advertising her room.

Google App Engine

June 18, 2008

We will also give it a shot and run it on Google App Engine

Please read bellow:

Run your web applications on Google’s infrastructure.
Google App Engine enables you to build web applications on the same scalable systems that power Google applications.
What is Google App Engine?

Google App Engine lets you run your web applications on Google’s infrastructure. App Engine applications are easy to build, easy to maintain, and easy to scale as your traffic and data storage needs grow. With App Engine, there are no servers to maintain: You just upload your application, and it’s ready to serve your users.

You can serve your app using a free domain name on the appspot.com domain, or use Google Apps to serve it from your own domain. You can share your application with the world, or limit access to members of your organization.

App Engine costs nothing to get started. Sign up for a free account, and you can develop and publish your application for the world to see, at no charge and with no obligation. A free account can use up to 500MB of persistent storage and enough CPU and bandwidth for about 5 million page views a month.

During the preview release of Google App Engine, only free accounts are available. In the near future, you will be able to purchase additional computing resources.

http://code.google.com/appengine/

I have managed to install the app engine on my Mac and sign up for an Application Identifier

groupc.appspot.com

We will need to use the SDK to upload it to the the Google’s infrastructure.

I am still looking up of how to make this, any help would be appreciated 🙂

New Target Audience_Neighbourhood Residents

June 17, 2008

Hi,

I believe since our concept and target audience doesn’t change the functional side of the project I believe we need to start making it, in this case we have 2 probable audience that we will decide on, during we can start making the application.

I have created the concept sheet please press the link to view it, I am not so attracted to the idea though! But I will do it since you guys like it! I think it would be better if it is targeting a fun activity rather than fear! But it is a personal point of view and Rob said it is ok if the Housing application exists as long as it offers something new!
I will update our schedule soon and we will have to stick to it since we have only 4 weeks to come.

community_safety_net

The Schedule:

Wednesday  18/June We need to start creating the static List of the application using HTML and CSS or Flash Lite

Sunday 21 we start to make the dynamic page using Python of which I am working on learning it at the moment.

Monday 22nd we start testing the application using a borrowed mobile phone

Tuesday 23 we implement the results

Wednesday 24 we start thinking of the presentation (video, persona)

Thursday 25 we start making the projects Web Site

The schedule is optimistic I know! I am still working on the schedule

Cheers,

Laila

result of interview

June 17, 2008

sorry for late posting, I did not have enough time yesterday…

I went to local estate agency yesterday and interview agents. briefly, I think mobile is not suitable to agency’s work, so I would suggest to change our direction.

usually, estate agents go to outside for house valuation. there are many articles for valuation – condition, location etc… after valuation, they suggest right price to landlord, and then, landlord decide price eventually.

the price is suggested by 2 or 3 more agencies. landlord call several egencies for valuation. suggesting price is decided by only egencies’ experiences.

another reason of outside work is showing house to buyers.
house selling is not easy. so it requires long time. buyers need detailed information and they do not want to decide quickly. maybe buyers spend many time in front of their PC.

If negotiation is needed, agent will call landlord and discuss. usually landlords do not want to discount their prices, so it needs enough time as well.(emily, I found TV program is unreal…)

in conclusion, I could not find any necessary of mobile phone service in their work process.
we must give answer to ‘why we have to use mobile phone?’. but I failed.
